Strategic Projects Supporting the Ukrainian Scientific Community
About
NEPHEWS and RIFF are key European projects that strengthen the Light for Ukraine initiative by addressing both immediate and long-term needs of the Ukrainian scientific community.
While NEPHEWS provides direct access to leading photon and neutron research infrastructures across Europe, along with training, mobility, and collaboration opportunities, RIFF focuses on the strategic dimension by developing a comprehensive roadmap for the recovery and modernisation of research infrastructures in Ukraine.
Together, these complementary approaches enable not only the continued participation of Ukrainian researchers in high-level scientific activities, but also support the systematic rebuilding of a resilient, well-coordinated research and innovation system aligned with European standards.
access to the world-class collective
NEPHEWS project
NEPHEWS provides comprehensive, user-oriented support for Ukrainian researchers by enabling access to leading European photon and neutron research infrastructures, while simultaneously building skills, fostering collaboration, and reducing systemic barriers to participation in large-scale scientific facilities. Through a combination of access programmes, training, and mobility schemes, the project strengthens the integration of Ukrainian scientists into the European research ecosystem and supports the development of a new generation of experienced infrastructure users.
Transnational access
Free access to world-class research infrastructures, including beamtime, and expert support.
Twinning programme
Collaboration with experienced research groups, enabling knowledge transfer and practical learning.
Early-stage researcher support
